  • The 2018 California gubernatorial election was held on November 6, 2018, to elect the Governor of California. Incumbent Democratic Governor Jerry Brown was ineligible to run for re-election for a third consecutive (and fifth non-consecutive) term due to term limits from the Constitution of California. The race was between the incumbent Democratic Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom and businessman John H. Cox, a Republican, who qualified for the general election after placing first and second in the June 5, 2018, primary election. Newsom won in a landslide, with 62% of the vote, the biggest victory in a gubernatorial race in California since Earl Warren won re-election in 1950, and the biggest victory for a non-incumbent since 1930. The election also marked the first time Orange County has voted for the Democratic candidate since Jerry Brown won it in 1978, and remains the last time as of 2022. This is the first time Democrats have won three consecutive gubernatorial elections in the state's history, with Newsom getting a record-high number of almost eight million votes. This election marked the first time since 2002 in which California voters elected a governor of the political party opposite of the one in control of the White House. Newsom assumed office on January 7, 2019. (en)
  • Die Gouverneurswahl in Kalifornien 2018 fanden am 6. November 2018 statt. (de)
  • 2018ko Kaliforniako gobernadore kargugabetze hauteskundeak 2018ko azaroaren 6an izan ziren, kargua hautatzeko. Jarduneko gobernadore demokratak, , ezin zuen hirugarren agintaldi jarraitu baterako (eta bosgarren agintaldi ez jarraiturako) aurkeztu, Kaliforniako Konstituzioaren agintaldi mugak zirela eta. jarduneko gobernadoreorde demokrataren eta enpresaburu errepublikanoaren artean egin zen lehia, 2018ko ekainaren 5eko hauteskunde primarioetan lehen eta bigarren sailkatu ondoren. Newsomek nabarmen irabazi zuen, botoen % 62 eskuratuta, 1950ean berrautaketa lortu zuenetik Kaliforniako gobernadore izateko hauteskundeetan lortutako garaipenik handiena, eta 1930az geroztik titular ez den baten garaipenik handiena. Era berean, hauteskundeak markatu zuen Orangeko konderriak hautagai demokratari botoa eman dion lehen aldia, Jerry Brownek 1978an irabazi zuenetik, eta demokratek gobernadore izateko hiru hauteskunde jarraian irabazi dituzten lehen aldia, estatuaren historian. Newsomek zortzi milioi botoko errekorra lortu zuen. 2002tik, Kaliforniako boto-emaileek Etxe Zuriak kontrolatzen duen alderdi politikoaren kontrako gobernadore bat aukeratu zuten lehen aldia izan zen. Newsomek 2019ko urtarrilaren 7an hartu zuen kargua. (eu)
