- Libreswan je implementace protokolu IPsec sloužícího pro budování virtuálních privátních sítí. Libreswan vznikl v lednu 2013 jako fork staršího projektu Openswan a stejně jako on je napsaný v jazyce C a určený pro operační systém Linux. Je zveřejněn pod licencí GNU GPL a jedná se tedy o svobodný software. Jako předvolený sofware pro realizaci virtuálních privátních sítí nahradil v roce 2016 v CentOSu dříve používaný Openswan. (cs)

Libreswan is created by almost all of the Openswan developers after a lawsuit about the ownership of the Openswan name was filed against Paul Wouters, the release manager of Openswan, in December 2012. The lawsuit was later settled out of court. Libreswan supports most of the common type of IPsec configurations people use including configuration like host to host VPN, subnet to subnet VPN. (en)
