- الشهادة العضوية عبارة عن شهادة عملية اعتماد (التصديق على) منتجي (مزارع) الغذاء العضوي وباقي المنتجات الزراعية العضوية. بشكل عام يمكن اعتماد أي نشاط تجاري متعلق بإنتاج الغذاء بما في ذلك من موردي البذور والمُزارعين ومُعدي الأغذية وتجار التجزئة والمطاعم. تُعد شهادة المنسوجات العضوية (الملابس العضوية) هي أقل الشهادات شهرة وتشمل شهادة منتجات المنسوجات المصنوعة من الألياف العضوية. تختلف المتطلبات من بلد إلى آخر (قائمة البلدان التي بها قانون أو قواعد للـزراعة العضوية) وتتضمن بشكل عام مجموعة من معايير الإنتاج الخاصة بالنمو والتخزين والمعالجة والتعبئة والشحن التي تشمل: * تجنُب استخدام المُدخلات الكيميائية الاصطناعية (مثل: الأسمدة والمُبيدات والمُضادات الحيوية والإضافات الغذائية) والإشعاع واستخدام طين مروي بمياه الصرف الصحي. * تجنُب استخدام بذور النباتات المُعدلة وراثيًا. * استخدام الأراضي الزراعية الخالية من المُدخلات الكيميائية المحظورة مُنذ أعوام عديدة (في الغالب ثلاثة أعوام أو أكثر). * الالتزام بمُتطلبات محددة لأعلاف الماشية ومكان تربيتها. الاحتفاظ بتفاصيل سجلات الإنتاج الخطية والمبيعات (سجل المراجعة). * الحفاظ على الفصل المادي الصارم للمنتجات العضوية بعيدا عن المنتجات غير المعتمدة. * اجتياز الفحص الدوري في الموقع. * تُشرف (تراقب) الحكومة في بعض البلدان على الشهادات المُعتمدة، كما أن الاستخدام التجاري لمصطلح «عضوي» محظور قانونًا.كما يخضع المنتجون العضويون المعتمدون لنفس اللوائح الزراعية وسلامة الأغذية وغيرها من اللوائح الحكومية التي تنطبق على المنتجين غير المعتمدين. * إن الأغذية العضوية المعتمدة ليست بالضرورة أن تكون خالية من المبيدات الحشرية، حيث أن بعض المبيدات مسموح بها. - La certificación ecológica u orgánica es el proceso por el cual los productores de alimentos, insumos, y productos elaborados o transformados, obtienen la calificación de ecológicos (o bio- en el mundo anglosajón). En general, cualquier negocio directamente relacionado con producción alimentaria puede ser certificado, tal como alimentos, semillas, granjas, procesos, distribuidores o restaurantes, Los requerimientos varían en cada país y suelen cubrir un conjunto de estándares de producción tanto en cultivo, almacenaje, procesamiento, empaquetado y distribución. Algunos de ellos son:
* Evitar organismos genéticamente modificados y sustancias químicas de síntesis, tales como fertilizantes, pesticidas, antibióticos o aditivos.
* Usar suelos de cultivo en los que no se hayan empleado productos químicos durante tres o más años.
* Mantener una separación física estricta entre los productos ecológicos certificados de aquellos sin certificación.

Die Einhaltung der Kriterien durch die Erzeuger soll durch eine Dokumentationspflicht sowie regelmäßige Entnahme und Untersuchung von Warenproben gewährleistet werden. In der EU wird die Einhaltung der Bestimmungen für alle Bio-Produkte durch die jeweils zuständige Öko-Kontrollstelle überwacht, bei Verwendung eines Verbandssiegels zusätzlich – oder aber ausschließlich – durch den jeweiligen Anbauverband. In general, any business directly involved in food production can be certified, including seed suppliers, farmers, food processors, retailers and restaurants. A lesser known counterpart is certification for organic textiles (or organic clothing) that includes certification of textile products made from organically grown fibres. Requirements vary from country to country (List of countries with organic agriculture regulation), and generally involve a set of production standards for growing, storage, processing, packaging and shipping that include:
* avoidance of synthetic chemical inputs (e.g. fertilizer, pesticides, antibiotics, food additives), irradiation, and the use of sewage sludge;
* avoidance of genetically modified seed;
* use of farmland that has been free from prohibited chemical inputs for a number of years (often, three or more);
* for livestock, adhering to specific requirements for feed, housing, and breeding;
* keeping detailed written production and sales records (audit trail);
* maintaining strict physical separation of organic products from non-certified products;
* undergoing periodic on-site inspections. In some countries, certification is overseen by the government, and commercial use of the term organic is legally restricted. Certified organic producers are also subject to the same agricultural, food safety and other government regulations that apply to non-certified producers. - Екологічно чисті продукти (від англ. organic food) — продукція сільського господарства та харчової промисловості, виготовлена відповідно до затверджених правил (стандартів), які передбачають мінімізацію використання пестицидів, синтетичних мінеральних добрив, регуляторів зростання, штучних харчових добавок, а також забороняють використання ГМО. Наприклад, у сільському господарстві на полях не використовують хімічно-синтезованиих мінеральних добрив, ГМО, а для боротьби зі шкідниками застосовують фізичні та біологічні методи: ультразвук, шум, світло, пастки, температурні режими. У тваринництві особливу увагу приділяють кормам (без консервантів, зростання, збудників апетиту) та безстресовим умовам утримання й транспортування, заборонено використовувати антибіотики та гормони.
