- أن في آي (بالإنجليزية: nvi) هو محرر نصوص محاكي لمحرر النصوص المعروف في آي، يأتي اسم أن في آي بمعنى (في آي الجديد) وهو (بالإنجليزية: new vi) وذلك في إشارة إلى إعادة كتابة هذه النسخة المحاكية لمحرر في آي بالإضافة إلى احتوائه إضافات وتحسينات جديدة فوق الوظائف التي يقدمها في آي. وبشكل تقليدي تم توزيع أن في آي على أنظمة بي أس دي ولاحقاً على أنظمة يونكس وأول نسخة من بي أس دي قامت بتنصيب أن في آي بشكل رسمي كانت النسخة الرابعة (4BSD). نتيجة لنزاعات الملكية الفكرية التي نشبت بين AT&T المعروفة باسم (Computer Systems Research Group) واختصارها (CSRG) فقد كان من الإلزامي أن تقوم مجموعة CSRG باستبدال جميع الأجزاء البرمجية المكتوبة بالشيفرة المصدرية التي تملك AT&T حقوق الملكية الفكرية لها وإعادة كتابتها من جديد، وكان في آي أحد هذه المكونات البرمجية ومن هنا نشأت فكرة محرر النصوص أن في آي. - Nvi es la reimplementación del editor de texto vi distribuido en los sistemas unix-like. Nvi apareció en la disputa de la autoría de BSD con AT&T, para tener un editor cubierto por licencias en el caso de que AT&T se quedase con los derechos de BSD. Es nombrado con frecuencia como «clon de vi», aunque posee ciertas características nuevas con respecto al editor original vi:
* 8 bit de datos (líneas y filas limitadas por la memoria disponible)
* Múltiples buffers para editar
* Compleción de nombres de los paths
* Opción de deshacer ilimitada
* Barra de desplazamiento horizontal
* Catálogos de mensajes (holandés, inglés, francés, alemán, ruso, español, sueco)
* Soporte preliminar para Perl y lenguajes de scripts Tcl/Tk (es)
- nvi (new vi) is a re-implementation of the classic Berkeley text editor, ex/vi, traditionally distributed with BSD and, later, Unix systems. It was originally distributed as part of the Fourth Berkeley Software Distribution (4BSD). Due to licensing disputes between AT&T and the Computer Systems Research Group (CSRG) at the University of California, Berkeley, the CSRG was required to replace all Unix-derived portions of BSD source with new and unencumbered code. nvi was one of many components rewritten, despite the fact that the original vi was from UC Berkeley. AT&T had a legal claim over the license. (en)
