Abarcaba una superficie de aproximadamente 7.500 km² y tenía una población aproximada de 400 mil personas. Su capital estaba situada en la ciudad de Dundee. En 1996, al abolirse el sistema de administración local en dos niveles y establecerse una única administración unitaria, cada uno de los distritos que formaba la región de Tayside se convirtieron en Consejos unitarios. - Tayside (Scottish Gaelic: Taobh Tatha) was one of the nine regions used for local government in Scotland from 15 May 1975 to 31 March 1996. The region was named for the River Tay. It was created by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, following recommendations made by the 1969 Wheatley Report which attempted to replace the mishmash of counties, cities, burghs and districts, with a uniform two-tier system of regional and district councils. Since the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994, the former Tayside has been divided into the council areas of Angus, the City of Dundee and Perth and Kinross, which had previously been the region's districts. Tayside Regional Council directly operated local bus services in the City of Dundee from 1975 until 1986, when bus deregulation under terms of the Transport Act 1985 was implemented. The restructured Tayside Buses became employee-owned in 1991, was sold to National Express in 1997, and today trades as Xplore Dundee. (en)

- Tayside – dawny w środkowo-wschodniej Szkocji, jeden z dziewięciu istniejących w latach 1973–1996. Region zajmował obszar o powierzchni 7502 km², zamieszkany był przez 389 800 osób (szac., 1998). Ośrodkiem administracyjnym było miasto Dundee, a innymi większymi miastami – Perth, Arbroath i Montrose. Północna część regionu była górzysta (Grampiany), południowa nizinna, na wschodzie – wybrzeże Morza Północnego oraz zatoki Firth of Tay. Nazwa regionu pochodzi od przepływającej przez niego rzeki Tay. Region powstał w 1973 roku z połączenia miasta Dundee, hrabstw Angus i Kinross-shire oraz większej części Perthshire. W 1996 roku region podzielony został na jednostki administracyjne (council areas) Angus, Perth and Kinross oraz Dundee. (pl)
